In William Shakespeare’s the Twelfth Night many characters change from the beginning of the play to the end and one can learn about the character’s behavior through that play. Viola is a great example of this as she grows as a character and has many effects on other characters in the play like Orsino and Olivia, but characters also affect her, like Sir Toby and Olivia, again. Viola shows through this play that she is character who can make mistakes and gain from them and has matured mentally than some of her other peers, but also that she cannot hide her stature in society as shown through her actions and speech, though often, these actions come from her motivation of the death of her brother. Viola, a major character in the Twelfth Night, changes in different ways from Act I to Act V. For example, she stands up to Olivia’s advances more as she goes throughout the play. For example, when Sir Toby comes back from being beaten up by Sebastian because of the duel that he had with Cesario, he accuses Cesario of beating him up, which did not happen, but neither Viola or Sebastian knew the other was alive, therefore not able to communicate that.
