This movie is about the author Solomon Northup journey as a born free African-American man living in Saratoga, New York, who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. in 1841 and sold into slavery. A Brief Synopsis of the movie Solomon Northup was a skilled carpenter and violinist in his time, he was approach by two promoters who offered him a job in Washington, D.C., where he was drugged and captured into slavery. Ford, causing the Farmhand John Tibeats a white man, to attack him out of Jealousy of the fact that Mr. Ford was taking advise from a black man instead of him, however Solomon defended himself against Tibeats causing Mr. ford to sell him out of fear that John will not stop until he get his justice that he deserve from having a slave hitting him, such justice is death. His next owner was Edwin Epps a cotton planter, who was known for his cruelty towards his slaves. There he remained until he met Samuel Bass, a white carpenter and abolitionist from Canada working at the Epps plantation.
