Mod fashion icon, Twiggy, had once said, “The trick is to find the style that is right for you. When it comes to trying new clothes, my advice is not to take it too seriously - it's all about having fun.” This quote presents the potential of the style’s impact on its audience. Many men and women are told that they cannot wear certain clothing because of the way they are, but the 60s style, Mod, changed that. Mod was the most popular and influential fashion lifestyle of the 60s, because of its style-type, icons, and the message behind its style.

However, there was one that revolutionized the style and stood out; Twiggy. Born September 19, 1949, the most influential fashion icon was named Lesley Hornby (Twiggy Biography). Twiggy attended a girls-only highschool and when she was 15, she worked at a London hair salon. She was an assistant hair stylist and while working, she met Nigel Davies; who called her ¨Twigs¨ because of her body structure (Nolen, Jeannette L.). Proving that she was hands-on in the style at a very young age and throughout her life, making it her career as well; also, that was where she got her famous alias, Twiggy. According to MarieClaire.co.uk, ¨One of the greatest beauty muses ever, Twiggy rose to supermodel fame thanks to her paint ’em on thick eyelashes and the boyish pixie crop that celebrity hairdresser Leonard chopped for her in 1966.¨ Twiggy supported animal welfare and she was well known for her participation in breast cancer research groups (Twiggy Biography) She was a liked, popular icon that influenced many people of many ages because she had a reputation that made her look like a kind, independant, down-to-earth woman.
