After reading the novel Twisted, written by Laurie Halse Anderson, I have become more aware of how different emotions and attitudes that people have can positively or negatively affect how they’re viewed by society. Furthermore, an individual’s attitudes and actions can also change their perspective of the world and the quality of their life. Early on in the book, we are introduced to the main character Tyler, who is an emotional, unpopular, and insecure seventeen year old senior who is hoping for things to change. Throughout the story, we follow his emotional rollercoaster filled with his thrilling highs and devastating lows. After researching astrology signs and their true meanings about specific traits, I have decided that Tyler fits within the Cancer symbol.

If I were an African American in the segregated south, I believe that I would be particularly bothered by the “Separate but equal” facilities that were truthfully not equal. Furthermore, I believe I would have felt abandoned by state leaders who wanted African-Americans to live life as inferior to whites. I would also have been inspired by stories of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., James Meredith, the Little Rock 9, and countless other courageous men and women who proved that the evils of segregation can be overcome by persistent non-violent protest. I would hope that hearing stories of the bravery of such individuals would encourage myself to seek to assert my rights in a peaceful
In Annie Dillard's "Total Eclipse," the narrator's profound sense of awe toward the eclipse is palpable through her evocative descriptions and introspective reflections. One striking example of this awe is found when the narrator observes the sky deepening to a hue of indigo never before seen. This color, described as "saturated" and "unworldly," captivates the narrator's attention and underscores the extraordinary nature of the celestial event unfolding before her. Against the backdrop of Mount Adams with the alpenglow upon it, the indigo sky creates a scene of sublime beauty and transcendence. The narrator's exclamation to "look at Mount Adams" serves as a fleeting attempt to share the overwhelming magnificence of the moment with another
Why it impacted me the most is because we get in inside look of the Bastile family, they seem like the perfect family because inside the household is a beautiful wife and her beautiful kids with her successful husband who is a doctor, the family seems perfect but they are falling apart very second; Louis is the kind of person that affects everyone around him, mostly negative but Roz and Cisely refuse to see him that way because they love him to much unlike Eve who is starting to see who he really is and even wishes death upon him; she is the only one who sees the family is being torn apart. It changed my mind because it shows how even though something is perceived a certain way, it might not necessarily be true and we have to keep in mind that some people go through a lot of more things than others. The Bastile family is one that has to learn to overcome and cope; they have to cope with death of Louis and overcome the anger and hate they felt toward each other since
What was never presented was the point of view from the African Americans because it was seemingly dismissed. It was eye-opening to read about the experience from an African’s perspective because it brought a whole new light to my understanding of what it meant to be a slave and the struggles black Americans face here in the US, even
I will be talking about culture and how it has changed since and things like that. So I think segregation was wrong JoAnn said “The man had less knowledge than I did.” and I think it is important for people to remember it. But I think blacks shouldn’t get mad at whites now for something that happened half a century ago. It is also important to fight for what’s right like in JoAnn Robinson she said “She got up crying”
After Thea got hold of the loft room, it greatly impacted Thea's life and character. Thea uses the loft room as a symbol of peace. Our minds are constantly being invaded by legions of half truths or prejudices, and false facts. One of the great needs of mankind is to be lifted above the morass of false propaganda(Martin Luther King Jr.).” This quote is showing you that the media is a way to false information, yet what we really want is to obtain the truth. Throughout, the article the author is trying to show how this specific union of liberals and trump supporters use the news as a network of false information and propaganda for important issues.
