A great terror struck our nation September 11, 2001, two aircraft’s hit the world trade centers, killing 2000 people and injuring over twice as many. A third aircraft flew into the Pentagon while a fourth crashed in a rural area in Pennsylvania. This day will forever be engrained into history as one of the worst terror attacks faced in this nation. Nearly three years later, in an attempt to figure out what happened on that tragic day, scholars came together to discuss the possible parallels between foreign and domestic terrorist. The author, Michael Kimmel, outlines the possible cause of the 2001 attacks and offers us a link between both foreign and domestic terrorism.
The 9/11 monument has a lot of features that honors 9/11 really well. It has all the names of victims and waterfalls cascading from all four sides. The Towers were 110 stories tall each. The Twin Towers had nearly 200,000 visitors a day. There are a lot of tourist that visit every year.
On September 11th, 2001 the Twin Towers in New York City fell victim to a terrorist attack that left thousands dead, thousands more injured and millions in fear. Later that day George W. Bush, the President of the United States of America, created a speech to help calm the public about the events that occurred earlier that day. The speech was shown on national television the United States from the White House. The speech was effective because President Bush did help calm down the public with his speech. In President Bush’s speech to the public on the night of September eleventh 2001 he showed that his point of view was from the perspective that he was trying the comfort the American public.
The planes crashed into a tower. On the morning of September 11th, 2011 there were multiple series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States which is what normally is told. But, multiple architects and engineers believe that the planes could not have made the towers collapse like they did. The 9/11 twin towers and WTC-7 buildings collapsed because of controlled demolition rather than the planes themselves.
This is the first terrorist attack that we have experienced in the 21st century. President Bush spoke out to the American people to empower and soothe them in a vulnerable time. President Bush reassures citizens and the victim’s families that America and its people are not only strong but are safe and will rise up again. Bush effectively executes his 9/11 speech and uses rhetorical devices to catch the citizens attention, calm the America people and unite them together again.
He was faced with the difficult task that evenings of letting the world know what took place that day, and help the American people through a day of shock and disbelief. In a time of unspeakable evil, George W bush addresses that nation using rhetorical appeals; together with the history of American ideas to reassure and untie not only Americans, but the world to stand together and fight back on the war of terrorism.

Technology has made it easier to passively spectate the horror that occurs around the world. More and more Americans become viewers of news networks who display sad story one after another. Most people do not understand or even realize that they enjoy it, but every night they turn to the news. The reason for the viewership is the subliminal need for power. In one way or another we must see or hear about how others are suffering, so we can feel better about our situation.
The 9/11 tragedy was a moment where people had their guard up at all times. This was a time where life had strike to reality of time warfare with every person and country. Couldn’t trust no one that came to the U.S. America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, were brave because the generations before us had to face what had happened and to what is going to happen. This had left the buildings torn instantly killing hundreds of many people, getting them stuck in the higher floors. This attack was the worst in America ever since the Pearl Harbor All over our nation saw a major impact of devastation in the face of the September 9, 2001attacks.
President, George W. Bush, in his “ Address to the Nation on 9/11” speaks to the American people to address what has happened and what the plan is to fix the disaster. George W. Bush’s purpose is to give a sense of hope, security, and relief in a scary and grief filled time. He adapts to a feeling of unity that calls all Americans to come together in this crisis. In his speech, George W. Bush first talks about how even though America was hurt by these attacks we were not broken. He goes on to talk some about how amazing the American people’s response to the situation was and how people came together in the hard time.
Professor and philosopher, Jason Zinser, in “The Good, the Bad and The Daily Show” addresses the topic of “fake” news, and tries to decide if shows such as The Daily Show are good resources for people to use. Are these shows a suitable replacement for "real" news? In the article he states that “fake” news shows have their “virtues and vices”. At the end of the article, Zinser believes that as a whole the shows helps the viewers learn about current events. Zinser uses ethical appeal, logical appeal, and emotional appeal to help get his point across to the readers.
In his “The Space Shuttle Columbia Tragedy” speech to the nation, George W. Bush utilized diction and tone, organization, and rhetorical appeals in order to accomplish his purpose of soothing a mourning nation while anticipating the future. First, the speaker uses word choice and tone in order to soothe the heroes’ families. For example, he says, “Because of their courage, and daring, and idealism, we will miss them all the more.” With this quote, Bush emphasizes on the fallen astronauts’ courage, creating a tone of grief in missing the heroes, but also a feeling of pride in that the deaths were not in vain. Also, he continually uses the word “we” creating unity within the nation during the grieving process.
On September 11, 2001, tragedy struck the city of New York. On that fateful day, two airplanes were hijacked by terrorists and flew straight into the twin towers. Each tower fell completely to the ground, taking thousands of lives with it and injuring thousands more. Not only did that day leave thousands of families without their loved ones, it also left an entire city and an entire country to deal with the aftermath of the destruction. Poet, Nancy Mercado, worries that one day people will forget that heartbreaking day.
Society expect to be constantly entertained; they have become so concerned with things such as who the latest star is dating, scandals, or dumb people doing rather idiotic things. Much of society have been consumed in their personal instant gratification and what makes them “happy”. When on an off chance that news does show things that are serious and impactful(not necessarily positive things that is happening in the world) people have become so numb that the best they could do is feel sympathetic and at worst continue on with their day. The other part of the problem is that those behind what is being published and shown on the news media have been absorbed in their avarice nature, whatever allows them to make as much profit they do. “Writing thousands of hours of coverage from what could have been summarized in a couple of minutes every few weeks, a new rhetorical strategy was developed, or-let’s be generous-evolved”(6), Saunders describes the new formula formed by mass news firms that would yield the most profit.
The Twin Towers were known for being on T.V, keeping peace, and being blown up by terrorists. The skyline is one of the things people think about most when they think of the twin towers. It once held the the record of the tallest building in the U.S.A because of its 360 foot spire at the top. You could go up to the “observation deck” and watch the city below. It was shown in the intro of the popular T.V show at the time Friends.
