This written task is inspired by poems that were analyzed in class. After reading and studying many different poems, I chose to write a creative task on a universal theme that most people, especially teenagers, can relate to. My poem focuses on the blame and hurt that many people experience after a breakup. I have conveyed the strong feelings felt after a breakup, along with the impact of love and heartbreak on people's lives, using metaphors, repetition, and other stylistic devices.. Moreover, the themes of love and heartbreak are conveyed throughout the poem through these literary devices.

The use of imagery throughout the poem helps convey the complicated and painful emotions that follow after a breakup. The phrase, "I stayed up most nights with you" helps the reader feel connected to the poem by creating an image of intimacy in a relationship. This allows me to emphasize the painful emotions experienced following a breakup. The phrase "part of me will always be by your side" is another example of my use of imagery; it conveys how challenging it is to let go of someone you loved, despite the suffering they caused. This demonstrates how difficult it can be to let go of a relationship even when it is no longer healthy as well as how difficult and painful breakups can be. The poem's theme of love and heartbreak is emphasized through the use of imagery, as well as showing how challenging it is to leave a relationship, even one that is toxic. By using imagery in the poem I am able to convey the theme of love and heartbreak in the poem as well as show how difficult it is to leave a relationship even if it's a toxic one. I use irony to show how people can hold onto unrealistic expectations and expect the impossible but ultimately receive nothing. This irony illustrates the issue of love and heartbreak and demonstrates how challenging it is to let go of unrealistic expectations when you are in love.
