In the movie Simon Birch, we learn many aspects from the main character relating to our SPIES unit. The Main character Simon Birch was born the smallest baby of Grapeville in recorded history. When he was born, the doctors believed Simon would only be alive for days or a weeks at maximum, because of a undersized heart. Mr and Mrs. Birch didn’t care for Simon and carried on in their normal daily lives. Believing their son would pass away.
The number 23 describes the famous basketball player Michael Jordan. When someone mentions Steve Jobs, they automatically think of Apple. Actress, Marilyn Monroe, became notorious for her birthmark. When one refers to Bartleby, they think of the symbols that describe his strange, mysterious character. In the story, “Bartleby the Scrivener,” a public records office begins to search for a new employee.
Stanley is the main protagonist in this book. In the beginning Stanley was shy, overweight, and insecure, but by the end he is outgoing, fit, and secure. At first, Stanley was shy, but after being accepted he becomes more outgoing. In the beginning Stanley doesn’t talk, but instead shakes and nods his head. Stanley also doesn’t talk until the fourth chapter.
Desire is the need for an object, a feeling or a person. One can have a desire for something that is essential for survival, such as water or food, but desire could be used to harm others or oneself. Through A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, Ishmael’s perspective of desire was altered dramatically. These desires were changed from his surroundings or events that were taking place. In the book, Ishmael was easily manipulated by his desires.
Stanley arrived at Camp Green Lake as a shy and selfish person, his time with Zero has completely remade him to be a selfless person that cares for others. He had a long and difficult time at Camp Green Lake that, along with the help of Zero changes him because he goes from selfish to selfless. In the begining Stanley was selfish and only thought of himself. Zero asked Stanley to teach him how to read, and all Stanley said was “Sorry, I don’t know how to teach.”
They became friends and started to get to know each other,and during their friendship Stanley's heart started getting purer. Towards the end of the story, Stanley's friendship with Zero made stanley more compassionate. ”But what if it wasn't too late.

As a teen age boy who wants to find the secrets his girlfriend who left behind all these mysteries after her odd disappearance. It also tells about the lost gothic girl, Anna Cayne, who meets the young high-school aged narrator. Throughout the postcards, a shortwave radio, various CDs, and many other irregular interest.
In the book “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan, it’s about a little girl who is pressured by her mother to become something she doesn’t want to be. Jing- mei , the daughter, is forced to become a prodigy(child actress), by her mother, and she doesn’t want to be one. In the story, Jing- meis’ mother uses allusions such as Shirley Temple to push her into becoming a prodigy. Although at first Jing- mei is excited to become a prodigy, she later realizes its something she just doesn’t enjoy doing. Consequently, the uses of allusion in the story help Jing- mei discover to not be a prodigy and that what her mother wants for her is not always important.
Lost In Yonkers by Neil Simon is a charming play primarily revolving around two boys and their relationships with their extended family, while their father is traveling the country selling scrap metal. As any other play would, it has strong characters and weak characters, strong storylines and weak storylines, effective playwriting, and wasted chances. Unlike most other plays, though, this play’s greatest strength is also its greatest weakness. The numerous characters and storylines allow for a storyline or a character that everyone will relate with, but also multiple that they will not connect with at all. Lost In Yonkers, although enjoyable at times, certainly has some obvious weaknesses.
“The truth was, he didn’t especially like himself. He liked himself now. ”(186 Sacher) This quote shows there has been significant change in Stanley. Partly through the influence of Zero’s friendship and partly from Stanley’s growth as a person, over the course of the book Stanley changes from a weak person to a strong person.
While Stanley and Zero’s friendship continues to progress, Stanley shows Zero much more loyalty, and selflessness than he did before. Stanley shows how much he cares about Zero when, “He stood up, lifting Zero’s worn-out body off the ground,” (Louis Sachar 170). Stanley is sacrificing his life for Zero, because he became loyal to him. Although he wanted to stop and rest for a while, he didn 't and decided to put Zero before himself, making him not only loyal to Zero, but self-less as well. Stanley begins to show how much of a loyal friend he has become when he, “Stopped and turned to look at Zero.
He is antithetical to Mitch by how the way they both treat women in their own way. Stanley could care less for women and abuses them while Mitch on the other hand is a gentleman and is sweet to women. They both act differently because Stanley just wants to be the head of everything and will take down whoever gets in his way while Mitch is looking for love and his significant other. This is evident through "You can't beat on a women an' then call 'er back!" and "I like you to be exactly the way that you are, because in all my - experience - I have never known anyone like you.".
“Two Kinds,” by Amy Tan, essentially revolves around the struggle of Jing Mei and her constant conflict with her mother. Throughout her life, she is forced into living a life that is not hers, but rather her mom’s vision of a perfect child; because her mother lost everything, which included her parents and kids, so her only hope was through Jing Mei. Jing Mei’s mom watches TV shows such as the Ed Sullivan Show, which gives her inspiration that her daughter should be like the people and actors. First her mom saw how on the television a three-year-old boy can name all the capitals of the states and foreign countries and would even pronounce it correctly. Her mom would quiz Jing Mei on capitals of certain places, only to discover that
Stephanie Plum, Morelli, and Ranger are three main characters in the book, One for the Money, by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie is a young woman struggling to get by in the city of Trenton, New Jersey. After losing her job, she goes against her family’s request and gets the dangerous job of a bounty hunter. She gets assigned Joe Morelli, who was accused of murder and who happened to be a childhood enemy. Stephanie is very inexperienced and receives help from a professional bounty hunter, Ranger.
A newborn child does not have anything influencing his perception of the world, but as he grows up the surroundings begin to affect the way he lives and behaves. Never judge anybody before knowing the whole story of their life and situation. In today’s society, people tend to establish a false image of a group, otherwise known as stereotypes. Stereotypes infer that if one member of a group has a specific set of characteristics or abilities, then the entire group is expected to be likewise. Stereotypes put labels on people and groups about how one should act or live a life based on minor facts.
