John has written so many books, the book I choose to read is “Making the “Terrible” Twos Terrific!.” I choose this book because every parent talks about their child hitting two and being horrible, so I wanted to find a way to help my children and parents through such a hard time in early childhood. When reading the book, the I think the main point of the book is to teach parents how to handle children during the first three years of life. Rosemond talks about how to promote healthy development, creative ways to discipline, potty training, bedtime blues, dealing with aggression, and daycare vs. parent care. He talks very early in the book about milestones and how “the average range for any given milestone lies three to six months on either side of the mean” (Rosemond 33). …show more content…

At ages birth-2 the parent is a servant to the child, age 3-13 the parent is the authority of the child and age 13-18 the parent acts as a mentor for the child (Rosemond 16). This chart really helps children get equated to life in small steps versus all at once when the child reaches the age of 18. Rosemond talks about a good way to childproof. Child love to get into everything and even more the things they can’t have. The section on childproofing he talks about giving children a little drawer or cabinet so children have something to occupy themselves instead of bugging the parents for attention (Rosemond 80). I like the section where Rosemond talks about effective communication and how the less words you use the better your children will listen, and having to be consistence for it to work for the long run. I found the potty training section really funny. He talks about “naked and $75” (Rosemond). This means you have your child completely naked and rush them to the bathroom and clean up when they don’t make it and the $75 is to get everything deep
