In this world, there is much diversity which makes everyone different, making the world a creative place. In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are diverse characters with distinct personalities that have an impact on the outcome of the play. Juliet shows that she has a dynamic personality because throughout the play Juliet develops from being obedient and loyal to independent and rebellious while facing conflict. Although Juliet does not always agree with her parents, she is always respectful and obedient. An example is when Juliet and Lady Capulet are inside of their house talking about marriage. Lady Capulet suggests that Juliet marry Paris and Juliet openly responds, “I’ll look to like, if looking liking move; but no more deep will I endart mine eye than your consent gives strength to make it fly” (1.3.106-108). This shows how Juliet is obedient and has an open mind to what Lady Capulet says because she is willing to listen to her parents. Similarly, Juliet shows loyalty to the nurse when she tells her the news about Tybalt’s death and says, “Shame come to Romeo” (3.2.97). One last example of Juliet’s obedience is when her mother calls her and she replies with, “Madam, I am here” (1.3.8). This shows how Juliet is obedient and gives Lady Capulet respect because Juliet knows that her mother does a lot for her so she should give respect in return. When Juliet develops, an example is of independence is when Juliet is looking for a boy she saw (Romeo) and she asks the Nurse, “What’s he that follows there, that would not dance?” (1.5.147) This shows that Juliet is curious and wants to become more independent and try things even though her parents want her to marry
