After completing three semesters at the USC Marshall School of Business, I have more clearly defined both my short-term and long-term career goals. The Business-Cinematic Arts program at Marshall has inspired me to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, and it has introduced me to facets of the industry I had previously not known about. After taking a BCA class taught by talent manager Danny Sussman, I am interested in talent representation. In the short-term, I hope to intern at a talent agency or management company during the 2017-2018 school year. The BCA program’s internship requirement has also helped me narrow my career ambitions. The course MKT 405: Advertising and Promotion Management aligns with my goal of working in television because advertising is a key revenue stream in TV, and I will be a more knowledgeable employee if I understand advertising. I also am interested in taking MOR 469: Negotiation and Persuasion because negotiation and persuasion and critical aspects of working in television and in any business. BAEP 475: Entertainment Entrepreneurship will help me pursue my career goals because it will help me learn about the future of the entertainment industry. I first worked as an Associate Producer for The Morning Brew, a live half-hour talk show. As an Associate Producer, I contributed to the team by improving the show’s social media presence and booking high-profile guests, such as 2 Broke Girls star Matthew Moy. After one semester as an Associate Producer, I was promoted to Senior Producer. In this position, I oversee the Associate Producers and develop creative strategies to build The Morning Brew’s audience. Being a Senior Producer on The Morning Brew has been the most significant experience because it has inspired me to be creative and be a strong leader, and I plan to utilize these qualities in my personal and professional
