I have been surrounded by the idea of college my entire life. Be it the pennons that illuminate my teacher’s rooms, or watching my older sister undergo the admission process. The truth is, I too have always dreamt of going to college. The freedom it would bring, the lifestyle I would have, and the academic opportunities that would allow me to flourish. However, I have learned that there is more to college than just these factors. Researching about the University of Southern California taught me that many components play into college life. This project has brought a new light into my life, one that emphasizes looking to the future and planning ahead.
If there is one thing that my research about USC has taught me, it is that many prestigious universities want to admit students who have a clear mind and powerful voice. The first step in this direction is to look deep and find out what you really want. I did this by examining my college priorities and fit factors. This is ultimately reflected in their statistics, as most students are in the top ten percent of their graduating class. Nonetheless, how do they do this? I believe that all students, not just USC admits, succeed by setting SMART goals that are attainable. By definition, SMART goals are hyper specific objectives that allow you to stay on track and produce effective results. My SMART goals for college include striving to be valedictorian, conduct my own passion project, and graduate with honors. In addition, I hope to take part in the work-study program, undergo internships that will give me exposure, and make connections that last a
