UTEP has opened a lot of doors for me, besides the education I received here it also has been my source of income for the last couple of years. Being a UTEP staff and student makes me feel part of something, member of a community, and sometimes it even makes me feel that I am at home. It may sound odd, but the reality is that I spent most of my time here. I have established friendships and relationships that provided me with the knowledge and skills necessary to grow as a professional and as a person as well. I have met people that gave me opportunities to network and collaborate with external agencies that could be potential employers or beneficial contacts, for future endeavors. The most remarkable agency is Sara McKnight Transitional Living Center (under the umbrella of the YWCA) as an intern at the agency I met great and knowledgeable people that encouraged me to run an extra mile and pursue a higher level of education. …show more content…
Making me more human, fervent and enthusiastic about helping others. In addition to that, during my internship at the YWCA, three positions opened-up and it was a pleasure for me to be asked for applying for any of them, with a high possibility of getting hired. However, thinking in my career and educational goals and on the benefits UTEP has offered me as a student and employee, and loyal to my UTEP family I refused the offer. I stayed working at the university as a work-study and later accepted an offer for a new position. After deciding to stay at UTEP and taking advantage of the benefits as an employee and following my goals I am now applying to graduate school to pursue a Master of Business Administration while working at the Department of Criminal
