The Ubx protein was successfully cross-linked with DMP and the results of it are shown below. In order to show that cross-linking the Ubx protein with DMP successfully cross-linked, a Native Page was ran. The sample type and lane number are presented in the table below. The interpretation of the results was that no hydrogel was formed, but it did cross-link and the Native gel proves that it did. Also, the smears showed this as well. The few limitations that were present was, an incorrect centrifuge, the Native gel page would not work correctly, and the Native gel page tore as it was being transferred to a tray where it was going to stain. The conclusion of this experiment was that Cross-linking the Ubx protein with DMP was possible, but the hydrogel did not form. The Ubx protein was also placed under the Uv light for 45 minutes, but no hydrogel formed. Many errors occurred during the experiment. One error that occurred was, we let it dialysis over night at room temperature when it should have been at 4֯C. The second error that occurred was, the SDS Native gel page tore when cracked the page and attempted to transport it. The last error we made was after we ran the second SDS Native gel page, the bottom sticker was left on and caused us to get an incorrect run. The importance of the findings is that the next group that wants to follow our footsteps will have a better understanding and a protocol to form a hydrogel. A change they can make is to increase the concentrations of incubate for a longer period of time. If the succeeding researcher can develop hydrogel, then it can be used as a skincare product or other medical uses. It can be used
