Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin are the two well-known samurai in the Japanese history. These two samurai fought five times in their lifetime during Sengoku period. In the Sengoku period, there were many battles between the samurai, however the battle between Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin were one of the most mysterious battles. Most of the battle between samurai, they will fight until somebody wins, but in the battle of Kawanakajima, it is hard to say who won. I think the reason why it took 12 years to end this battle is because of the battle strategies based on what they believed and had different purpose of fighting for this battle. He did not want to make a move on the first because he knew that if he moves first, then he will get playing with Kenshin so he waited immovable as the mountain. On the fourth battle, Kenshin realized that he does not move first so that he put himself on the mountain which is the disadvantage for him. Shingen thought he made a mistake and started attacking, but Kenshin knew Shingen would make a move because there was a big smoke from the bottom of the mountain which was made by preparing food by Shingen to his army. This little battle strategy could tell us that why Kenshin never lost the battle before and have a lot of experience of fighting. Another reason why it took so many years to end this battle is because each samurai had a different purpose of fighting this battle. For Takeda Shingen, he wanted to increase his property and eventually he wanted to unify a country (天下統一). On the other hand, Uesugi Kenshin wanted to just help Ogasawara Nagotoki and Murakami Yoshiki to try to stop slow down the Takeda
