Despite having a wide plethora of health problems, there's no question the UGA mascot is perfectly suited to cheer on the dawgs on behalf of the passionate fans the football games generate. The University of Georgia is well respected, academically, in large part due to its prestigious veterinary school. Some would find it ironic that a university, known for providing the highest quality veterinary care in the nation, employs one of the most vulnerable, unhealthy dog breeds to represent a strong and tough football team that isn't afraid of a challenge. Somehow, the university pulls it off and makes UGA easily the most likeable mascot in the SEC. Without UGA, the stadium would seem empty. He is irresistibly lovable and I would argue that even our rivals dare to find him endearing. In addition, he is memorable and projects a warm and inviting character to the fans. He sends a positive message and exhibits an image fit for the situation. He is cute and cuddly before games and while interacting with fans. When its game time, however, UGA can put a tough face on and intimidate. If we suffer a loss, UGA uses his wrinkly face and slobbery tongue to bring a smile to the disappointed fans; if we achieve a victory, he is there to celebrate and bring pride to the bulldawg nation. Without even trying, UGA is entertaining. Before every game, fans (including me) wait behind an SUV to see UGA heavily panting in his kennel. Every time, it amazes me that fans are so committed to the university and the sport that they wait to see a dog pant in his kennel and "ooh" and "ahh" while watching, as if they are in the presence of royalty (most bulldog fans would argue that they are). UGA exhibits a balance of hospitality , pride, intimidation most important, loyalty, and his image embodies the character and values of the university, the football team, and the fans that support it
