A Shadow
May is moving up but she still feels behind? In the novel Never Run, By Blake Pierce ,May Moore has always tried to get out of her older sister Kerry's shadow. She is a small town deputy sheriff , while her sister is an FBI agent. The two sisters get back together when a killer starts killing in mays town . She tried to solve the case herself but they were getting nowhere ,So as a result the local authorities called in the FBI to help, Even though they did this she still tries to outshine her sister. This novel has 3 major themes: underdogs, being accomplished, and often being a shadow.

Her heart was hurting. The way they treated Kerry compared to her was like a kick in the stomach.
Her mother would probably be enthusing about how Kerry was going to solve the case in no time. She'd be joyous, saying how great it was to have her back in town.
Nobody would mention the fact she'd been promoted to the county’s youngest, and first female, deputy sheriff. In fact, May feared her parents had already forgotten about this insignificant fact.”
Kerry hasn’t even been back in town for a day and May is already back in that shadow she was in as a child. All she ever wanted was to feel like she made her parents proud and yet every time she achieves something they put her right back in Kerry's shadow.
In conclusion, May Moore will and has always been a shadow. Her family has always failed to acknowledge her and her achievements for them being hers. They always look at it as if she is still behind Kerry even though she is where she feels like she should be. I picked this topic to talk about because May is very proud of her work but she can’t really be proud unless her family is proud of her too. Even though they say they’ve failed to show May ,By bringing up Kerry’s accomplishments every time something good happens to her
