Change is the law of nature. The demand of an individual are changing and so is the technology, vice-versa is also true. We are living in the era of information. Information has become our basic need today. Our daily life is very much dependant on the information which is stored digitally. The reason is the exposure of an individual to the technology which has made the world a global village. We are accessing emails, forming social networks, online business, performing searching operations, share information etc. with such a huge exposure and access to the information it has become an important aspect of our life.

1.1 Who creates information and how it is accessed?

The data is stored on storage devices like DVDs, CDs, USBs or hard drives. Devices which are used for storing data are called as storage devices. Data type, data amount and data generation rate is responsible for storage devices used for storing it. For a business purpose the devices used for storing are hard disks, tape and storage arrays.

1.3 Why Information Storage with storage oriented architecture?

The amount of data stored locally is limited. Also if the data is stored remotely at a distant location then easy and secure access is difficult. .Information Storage is a major task and needs infrastructure for storing data called data center. The data center is responsible for providing data security, scalability, reliability, availability, performance, integrity and capacity. The storage repository at the data center allows the user to store or retrieve the data which is stored in digital form.
