In order for one to understand the Manufacturers Specs in music production, you must first understand the element in which you will be working with.
Sound
So what is sound? Sound is a series of vibrations that travel through the air pressure or any other medium. We pick up the vibrations when they vibrate our eardrums. Sound is measured in Hertz (Hz) and as humans, we can hear from 20Hz – 20,000Hz(20kHz) and as our ears are picking it up, it’s moving at a speed of 1130 ft/s. Sound requires a medium to travel and the medium is the air pressure. What this means is that when the atmospheric air pressure is higher than normal that means sound has been created and the molecules begin to travel through the air pressure, this process is called “compression” and once they travel back its known as …show more content…

Analog recording is the first method: analog means that it uses physical, moving parts in order to record a signal and the signal was then stored on a physical device in its original form; E.G – The Phonograph was the first physical recording device and stored its audio signal on a phonograph record.
Digital recording is the second method: Digital means that the device records a signal directly to a storage device in the form of discrete numbers that are referred to as “binary code”. An example of digital recording would be CD printing and playback, in which the binary code is imprinted onto a CD (Compact Disc).
A stand-alone recorder means that it does require any other device to record audio it can function independently. An example of a Stand-alone recorder would be an M-box.
A digital recording device uses binary code to pick out changes in the air pressure and an example of this could be a DAW or Digital Audio Workstation that is an electronic system designed solely to record
