I chose this book because it was recommended to me by a good friend of mine back in high school, but I never got around to reading it. The reason she recommended this book was because I had just lost a childhood friend in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. This book was a very interesting and really sad. The author Sharon M. Draper did a magnificent job making the reader feel as if they were there every step of the way. I believe that there were many themes in this book.

Two of my favorite books I've read this semester are Underneath The Sycamore Tree by B. Celeste and A Thousand boy kisses by Tille Cole. Both these books explore the lives of two different girls who have different sicknesses. These two books explore many themes and moods using a variety of literary devices. Both these books show a struggle with the news of their sickness, living with it and trying to overcome it.
Pushing Pause by Celeste O. Norfleet relates to my own life. In the book Kenisha Lewis a young black girl struggles with personal depression and overcoming obstacles in her life. From her boyfriend breaking up with her to her friends acting funny towards her, everything becomes so overwhelming for Kenisha and it began to take a toll in her life. This situation can relate to me because, going through the everyday struggles of being a young black female, having the feeling being alone all the time with nobody by your side.

The story The Dying Breath, a mystery book by Alane Ferguson lets the reader know that love will get rid of fear. The story starts of with the protagonist, Cameryn Mahoney, going inside a house to look at a dead body. When she finds the body, she stumbles across a note claiming that the antagonist, Kyle, her ex boyfriend is back to get her. Lucky for Cam, she has Justin by her side.

Love is a specialty Love consists of many stories and good times with your family and friends, but it also consists of many challenges along the way. In “Sketches”, Eric Walters explores the impacts that love can cause people who truly care about others and or are facing the same challenges as Dana. Furthermore, love can help in times of need and this is evident in Walter’s characterization of Dana and the gloomy yet helpful setting of Toronto. Eric Walters’ use of love in the setting, especially when they are alone on the streets at night and when Dana is in the sketches building, lets Dana, Brent, and Ashley realize that they love each other. The story is about a Dogo who had been used for bait in a dogfight and was severely injured. The left side of his face was torn off, including his ear. Luckily Oogy was rescued by Diane one of the doctors at AAH, who had saved Oogy’s life.
The book I read was, This Journal Belongs To Ratchet. The author of my book was Nancy J.Cavanagh. This book is about a girl named Ratchet who lives with her because when she was little her mom died. She doesn't have many friends, but that changes in the end of the book. Ratchet is a happy, kind, smart girl she loves her dad even though he is a little crazy.

Love. Love is a very fickle emotion that affects an individual drastically. It can cloud a person’s perception of someone and can cause one to act in a way that they would normally never do. Love is what caused Pip, a young character from the novel, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, to drastically change from an innocent boy to a foolish man. As a child, Pip was always sweet yet dilapidated beyond repair, because he was neglected as a child.
