Unit 4 Persuasive Essay In the year of 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his speech called “I Have A Dream,” in this speech it was known as a demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation. This historical event led many people to believe equality is achievable. One example of how the Constitution promotes equality is the 6th amendment in which states people have a right to a fair trial. Although the Constitution gives the right to equality, others may disagree with the fact that it does not. Many agree equality is achievable, Amendments 6, 13, and 14 are good examples on how fairness is accomplishable. In the Bill of Rights, the Amendments are a good source of verification that equality is achievable. In the Declaration of Independence, it emphasizes the rights privileges for each and every person, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” This is clarifying all men have the same rights as any other discrete citizen. This is also asserts that the Declaration of Independence is providing human rights to all people and they are given the virtue of happiness. In the “Gettysburg Address” by Abraham Lincoln, it elucidates the specific, “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” This affirms that 87 years ago, the fathers of our nation created a country with freedom. Additionally, this speech is overall talking about how our nation was meant to be based with freedom and not slavery.
