Reason for task: In this research task I am going to be comparing Kentucky Fried Chicken to Steers to determine which fast food restaurant is loved more by South Africans and which restaurant has better marketing strategies which helps them in gaining loyal customers. The definition of marketing is “the action of promoting or selling products or services to target customers.” There are many different strategies businesses use when doing marketing, but the main thing most businesses use are the 4 P’s. KFC also almost always has different promotions such as the “Ten piece Wednesday special” this makes customers want to go out of their way and buy a meal as people love getting things for free or at least cheaper. KFC also uses social responsibility as a way of promoting and showing off their business as if the franchise is doing good things customers often then want to support and help them as it is for a good cause. KFC has also developed a delivery system which will expand their customer base as people like just having to push a button and get what they want as society has become lazy and like things just getting delivered to them instead of having to go out and get it for themselves. KFC uses the 4 Ps to gain customers as customers love cheap, free or half price items, products of food which matches their background, convenient and easy access and most of all people get enticed when looking or hearing adverts which makes them crave the food and then go out and get it.
