Unit 2 Assignment Two album covers that I chose to analyze were both from the same artists, in the band Coldplay. The name of the first album cover is called Viva La Vida or Death and His Friends, which was released in 2008. The second album cover is the Prospekt’s March, which was also released in 2008. I chose these two albums on how similar each cover is too one another. They are both very interesting to look at and each cover has its own story. Each album cover has amazing detail, with the colors used, the alignment, and the balance of elements from top to bottom or left to right.

Coldplay used two of Eugène Delacroix’s paintings for two of their album covers. Eugène was born in 1798 and died in 1863 and was one of the best French romantic artists of his time. The second cover they used by Eugène Delacroix was painted also in 1830 and is called The Battle of Poitiers. The Battle of Poitiers took place in France in 1356. It was a major battle during the Hundred Years War between France and England. When I look at both of these covers I see all detail that goes into the both of them. In both covers you see all the different types of people who might be coming together to fight for their country. The country they believe in and love. You might how the covers are surrounding one person who is leading their people to victory. As for Coldplay they might see themselves as someone in that painting. For Chris Martin he might he himself as lady on the cover who is holding the flag and rifle or as the man hopping of his slain horse. Chris might think of him as one of them because he is leading his band by being the singer for the band. He stands there in the middle for what he believes in and loves. That he loves to be a musician and would died before giving up on
