The United States Postal Service is an abhorrent government service that passes further into the definition of a relic the longer it exists. When debating whether or not the United States Postal Service needs to be reformed one must not only look to the past and the failures but to the future and how they’ve refused to fix their mistakes. It doesn't take long to realize that the USPS is fading into obscurity in the minds of americans and they are doing little to nothing trying to fix it. If it is to survive as a service of any importance the USPS must be reformed. The biggest reason to reform the USPS is their failure to stay caught up with the private competition. While their competitors have compensated for their lack of instantaneous delivery the USPS have failed to capitalize on this. Private businesses like UPS and Fedex promise fast and reliable delivery with constant tracking the USPS doesn’t and knowing this the public refuses to trust them. It’s a given that there have been improvements but no one trusts a system that has failed before. Knowing this if people have the option to buy the more expensive product they will because it's safe and reliable while the USPS is a last resort. With the business model and reputation of “ It may not be fast or reliable but its cheap” the USPS has to be rebranded and reformed if it wants to not only survive but
