The University of Maryland is located in College Park, Maryland. The School was founded in 1856. This school is a public research college. In fall 2010 the school had an enrollment of more than 37,000 students. The University of Maryland has 120 graduate programs. Sports is plays a really big role in the everyday life of this school. In 1916 the state of Maryland took over the school and in this year was when the first females were allowed to attend this school. 1951 was the first year when colored students were allowed to go to this school. In 2004 the university added a 150 research park to there campus which is one of the biggest research park in the Washington D.C Capital Beltway.
