The reason why I apply for the University of Pittsburgh is that this university offers a doctorate program in STEM. A doctorate program in STEM can bridge my Bachelor’s in Physics and Master’s in Mathematics and Computer Science degrees. The School of Education is devoted to the Pittsburgh area educators and its constant evolving curriculum in education. I am also attracted to the fact the University of Pittsburgh School of Education is ranked the 30th “Best Graduate School in Education” in 2016 by U.S. News & World Report.
I attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physics minoring in Mathematics. After graduation, I got a job at my local community college as a tutor. While tutoring, I attend California University of Pennsylvania to obtain my Masters of Education in Mathematics and Computer Science. Upon graduation, I began teaching part time at the local community college. I have been teaching at Westmoreland County Community College for fifteen years. I have always made it a primary goal to continue my education by participating in faculty enrichment classes. I feel that there is a need for compassionate, strong, and dedicated individuals who are excited about working with students. The needs of the students today will not be the same of those students who enter my classroom tomorrow. I am in a profession that requires constant adaptation. The role of all teachers needs to be that of a creative master of information, a positive role model for students, and a caring individual who not only wants to see success of the student but also help them reach their fullest
