When I visited the University of Pittsburgh the only word that could describe my experience was comfortable. I felt at home there and Pitt had everything I could want in a college. Academically, Pitt is one of the foremost institutions in the country. In my family, education is heavily emphasized to the point that I would say it might be our most important value. I was taught that education was the best way to improve your self as a person. By learning more about the world and other cultures you become more accepting as a person and more aware of the issues plaguing humanity. I love what the University of Pittsburgh offers academically. What was also important to me was the class size of a college. I want to go to a fairly large university because meeting new people and interacting with them is something I really enjoy doing. At a university as large as Pitt, who have 18,000 undergraduate students at their campus I will always be meeting new people from many diverse environments. This large class size would allow me to collaborate with people of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. It will allow me to see different cultures like people from the West Coast, or the Midwest, or even international students approach the same problems I will also have to overcome. At the University of Pittsburgh, this is possible because of the undergraduates who come from all 50 states and from abroad. Academically and in terms of class size, the University of Pittsburgh is the perfect choice for me. However, the most important factor that I looked for in a college was to see how that institution would prepare me for what would happen after I graduate. Would I be able to find a job?
