“Our sense of self is influenced by our interactions with our environment” The interactions a person encounters are an essential part in the formation of identity. In Peter Skrzynecki’s poem, Feliks Skrzynecki, a linguistic barrier between the father and son is present due to persona, Peter’s lack of cultural identity. The poem examines the relationship with his father explores how he has a constantly changing identity as he encounters his surroundings. Similarly, in Postcard, the persona’s identity is altered through the interactions he has with the environment around him.
But, nature does not exclude humans, human excludes themselves from nature. Within the “mists of [the] chopping sea of civilized life, such are the clouds and storms and quicksands and thousand and one items to be allowed for”(277). He uses clouds and storms and quicksands to convey that civilized life includes the same negativity included in the connotation of those conditions, but nonetheless, those too are apart of nature. The purpose of utilizing imagery is so evoke images people already have to connect with them on that level to make them understand that they must find a harmony and balance in the world. So, in order to restore order within one’s individual life, one must defy the social norms that distance themselves from nature to find harmony with it.

However there are dangerous things about nature even if humans need nature. The inclusion of nature in the good mind’s creation suggests that humans want a simplistic life in unity with nature, but without the chaos of nature in its purest
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (2015) http://www.impawards.com/2015/alvin_and_the_chipmunks_the_road_chip_ver8.html In the poster, I can see the three little chipmunks who are the main characters of the movie. When I look at the poster, I see the three chipmunks are trying to not lose each other by holding each other 's foots and one of the chipmunks is trying to hold somewhere in the back of a car running to make sure they are following the car. That picture makes me to think that there is some important thing in the car that makes the chipmunks try to chase the car. The pictures which show three chipmunks are holding each other 's foots, trying to follow behind a car that is running very fast explain why the movie names Alvin
Many people who go into nature always see it as something beautiful and aesthetic, but they never see the other side to nature. Humankind’s connection with nature isn’t a real one. They always look at the bright side of nature but are blind to the true dark side of nature. JB MacKinnon’s article “False Idyll” (2012), reveals that nature is not just flowers in a field but can also be the survival of the fittest. He backs up his claim by talking about nature through anecdotes and expert’s research.
Most people would expect the artists painting to be monopolized by one perspective of nature. However, the artist incorporates both the violent and beautiful sides of nature. The artist explained how “the long-necked lily-flower which, deep in both worlds, can be still as as a painting” (Hughes 22-24). The artist proves how the even if beauty is surrounded by negativity, nature 's beauty will not be consumed by its violence. Most people would also expect the artist to put an emphasis on nature 's violence, especially after the repeated mention of the violent parts of nature.
Nature is a place of beauty, but not everybody completely understands that. Nature is a place to be alone just by yourself. Nature is there for your comfort as it lays a blanket of trees over your head. Nature is like a friend, but more loyal. It stays true to you as you are its guest.
Despite the fact that the fundamental theme of each poem; the relationship of poets and their poems, is the same, through the three poems, the different views of each speaker is emphasized and showed thoroughly by imagery, and tone. First of all, in Neruda’s poem, he uses imagery like “prison”, and words like “must” to emphasize how his poems present creativity and freedom to people who are in desperate need of them, and his belief that it is his destiny to create such poems. In the poem, “The Poet’s Obligation”, from lines 1-6, and lines 18-19, Neruda uses words like “prison” which is a negative connotation to set the image of people’s lives as negative, and tiring. “Prison” is metaphorically used to illustrate how people are closed up in their own life, so busy that they forget about creativity and freedom. In line 2, Neruda uses the word “cooped up” which is originally used to describe chickens in a small space to describe how people are locked in houses and offices every day.
It’s said that Thomas was an alcoholic and it was deemed that the cause of his death was because of the obsession and also it was accentuated with the grief he felt for his father approaching death. The form of the poem is elegy whereby Thomas used the poem by expressing his grief for his father’s impending death. It is vital to know the poet state of mind in order to relate or understand the poem. Therefore, descriptive language used by the poet should be focused to further know the poet’s is trying to impose.
Nature is easily projected onto, as it allows for a sense of peacefulness and escapism. Due to its ability to evoke an emotional reaction from the masses, many writers have glorified it through various methods, including describing its endless beauty and utilizing it as a symbol for spirituality. Along with authors, artists also show great respect and admiration for nature through paintings of grandiose landscapes. These tributes disseminate a fixed interpretation of the natural world, one full of meaning and other worldly connections. In “Against Nature,” Joyce Carol Oates strips away this guise given to the environment and replaces it with a harsher reality.
In the end, the poem “Identity” by Julio Noboa Polanco talks about how it’s good to be unique, to be yourself. Julio Noboa Polanco uses the literary devices of alliteration, simile, and repetition. I think the message of the poem reflects certain things that happen in life. Like people can be someone but not
Besides the author and the reader, there is the ‘I’ of the lyrical hero or of the fictitious storyteller and the ‘you’ or ‘thou’ of the alleged addressee of dramatic monologues, supplications and epistles. Empson said that: „The machinations of ambiguity are among the very roots of poetry”(Surdulescu, Stefanescu, 30). The ambiguous intellectual attitude deconstructs both the heroic commitement to a cause in tragedy and the didactic confinement to a class in comedy; its unstable allegiance permits Keats’s exemplary poet (the „camelion poet”, more of an ideal projection than a description of Keats actual practice) to derive equal delight conceiving a lago or an Imogen. This perplexing situation is achieved through a histrionic strategy of „showing how”, rather than „telling about it” (Stefanescu, 173 ).
The relationship between the human self and nature is strong because: To be happy is not getting satisfaction out of objects. Being happy comes from being outdoors and nature has a healing
“Report to Wordsworth” by Boey Kim Cheng and “Lament” by Gillian Clarke are the two poems I am exploring in this essay, specifically on how the common theme of human destruction of nature is presented. In “Report to Wordsworth”, Cheng explores the damage of nature caused by humans and man’s reckless attitude towards this. In “Lament”, the idea of the damage of oceans from the Gulf War is explored. In “Report to Wordsworth”, Boey Kim Cheng explores the theme of human destruction of nature as a response to William Wordsworth, an romantic poet who celebrated nature’s beauty in his poetry.
