Introduction In this essay, I will argue the conflict in romance, friendship and master-slave relationship from the story of Unyŏng-jŏn. Also, I will compare with the relationship in this story with the modern time. I will research this theme for two reasons. First, I would like to clarify the reason why Unyŏng killed herself. The main theme of this story was love affair. However, she would seem to die for other reasons other than her love. Therefore, I assumed that she committed a suicide with complicated and mixed situation of three main relationships, love, friendship, and the master –slave relationship. In other words, at that point, I can understand that she was not dead only for the garden. And it can be inferred that the reason for driving her to commit suicide is due to the profitability of friendship. She apparently felt sorry for the woman. Master-Slave Relationship - The master-slave relationship made her driven to a more severe condition. To be specific, she got two biggest damages from him. First, she got a terrible ranking by the king. She is a poet expressing the heart and love nature, showing no interest in power and money.
