Throughout the course of history, superpowers such as Germany, Spain, France, etc., started off as small nations, but with the help of their involvement in foreign affairs, these small nations soon became a global force. (Introduce the late 1800s/time period) A superpower is an extremely powerful nation, especially one capable of influencing international events and the acts and policies of less powerful nations. The United States should get involved in foreign affairs, because the outcomes of the boost in the economy and having the chance of helping others in external territories show how the US’ involvement in foreign affairs is beneficial for all. By the United States taking over territories such as Cuba, Hawaii, Alaska, etc. new ports for trade were opened. This helped the soon to become world power immensely, and also gave them more power which would lead up to their victory of becoming a powerful nation. For instance, Hawaii and Cuba have amazing natural resources that the US has the power to share and expose to the rest of the world. Natural resources such as pineapple from Hawaii and cane sugar from Cuba were wanted from all over and brought success to the US, helping their economy grow and prosper. Although the United States was still a small nation with little power, by the US doing this, it not only presents more substances that many didn’t know was needed to trade, but the trade of these items helps produce more money for the US, which helps their economy. Additionally, these ports, especially Hawaiian ports, opened up trade to Asia, specifically Japan, so the US has easy access to becoming partners with these countries instead of soon becoming enemies which would only lead to more costly wars and lives of
