The most important element that Anaya Rudolfo uses to convey a meaningful message in the narrative story, “A Celebration of Grandfathers,” is imagery. The imagery of the story creates a rhythm and flow of the story which can show real life examples in an artistic light. He creates such a visual environment of the way he lived by talking about a “ river dried to a trickle” and the “young plants withered and died” (Rudolfo 242) showing the sorrow which came from the lack of rain in Puerto de Luna. He was so appreciative of his grandfather because he created light for him in this dried, withered home he had migrated to as he talked to him about how a prayer for rain would connect them rather than a wish. He truly began to feel like a “king”
