Another major implication on these two mens presidencies was the Cold War and the fight for democracy to rule over communism around the world. Thus, many of the stances these two presidents had on Vietnam involved being aggressive in the war and not letting communism defeat the “free” world. Their decisions were both aggressive and extremely stubborn when the scope of the war began to take shape.

In this statement he is telling Grace that she will eventually have to fall by that he mean that she will eventually know the truth about her mother's murderer and that it will hurt her just like falling from a tightrope. The story revolves around a girl called Dee, her mom and sister Maggie. They have different opinions on different subjects especially relating to heritage.
In T.S. Eliot’s work “The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock”, he uses diction to give an underlying meaning and tone to his poem in order to express the downfall of a man. The author uses his diction to give this poem Its tone as if he regrets what he did in life. He also shows great tone changes in this work, giving this poem a dramatic, almost tragic outlook. Many of his word choices also give his work an underlying meaning and adds to his theme and messages. A large part of his poem is also using metaphors to add to this underlying meaning and give more force to this tone he is trying to create.
Collins opens up with this to show how important his lover is to him, by doing this he sets the tone of the poem. People tend to do this as well, often people tell each other how important or valuable they are to them to create a sense of love. Collins refers to Shakespeare when he compares a woman to his favorite season (1). As humans, love is a natural thing, and Collins makes that very prominent in the way he flatters his lover so easily. This song shows a young girl who is portrayed as having a dorky nerdy look. Also, it shows a girl that is opposite of her, who is a pretty brunette known by the highschool kids. The “nerdy” girl is in love with a football player, who she believes will never have a chance with, because he is with another girl. “Taylor swift” has a crush on a boy who is blind to see that she really loved her and not the girl he is with who is portrayed as a “popular” Brunette. This is an important aspect to Taylor Swift because she is known to sing love stories that she hears about or experience herself.
This is evident within the song’s chorus. “Just gonna stand there and watch me burn. That’s alright because I like the way it hurts.” The woman in the relationship does not actually like being abused.
The song describes most of what is going on in the story. For example, “We found him with his face down in the pillow With a note that said I’ll love her till I die.” These two lines in the stanza are very descriptive. Using detailed lines makes a better understanding for the audience. It makes the song become more realistic.

In particular, its imagery is clichéd: wedding bells, birds, roses, etc. However, this makes sense for someone who has fell in love for the first time. She continues interpreting the main object by using the hyperbole “...we’ll take this way too far it’ll leave you breathless or with a nasty scar…”, meaning their love can end in troublesome terms.
Growing up in a society obsessed with the concept of sappy love stories, it is easy to find flaws with the unrealisticness of such accounts of love. Songwriter Taylor Swift contributes to the popular trend of mainstream love stories in her own composition, “Love Story.” Throughout her song, Swift effectively incorporates the use of various figurative devices to relate her own love story with that of the famous Shakespearean lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Swift conveys the strength of her forbidden love, in similarity with that of Romeo and Juliet’s, through the use of metaphors, hyperboles, and allusions. First and foremost, Swift uses clear examples of metaphors throughout her song to maintain the resemblance of Romeo and Juliet’s love story with her own love story.
The song, “Someone Like You” by Adele uses many forms of figurative language, such as repetition, similes, and metaphors. Adele tells us that it can be callous to move on but it is always possible to find happiness again. The song is about Adele and another guy ending their relationship. She is not over him, but she is convinced she can be happy again without him.
