Throughout time, Genetics has been a continuous journey in science. Being a part of this scientific voyage, through my studies and academic contributions, would be a fulfilling challenge; an opportunity that I would truly relish. Just a few years ago, it was implausible that DNA would impact the prosecution and conviction of criminals. For me, this ignites an interest in the medical, legal, and ethical aspects of genetics, as well as its impact within our society. I am passionately committed to developing my knowledge in this fascinating area. To deepen my understanding for this course, I enrolled in the online 'Useful Genetics' course at Coursera, with a goal to develop my pre-existing understanding of the world of genetics. I also obtained skills such as the ability to draw and interpret the human life cycles in the context of sexual reproduction, ploidy changes and DNA. It astonishes me how every DNA strand originates from a pre-existing complementary DNA strand by DNA replication; it's physical and scientific accuracy overwhelms me and makes me wonder what else science could later uncover. It is for this …show more content…
It is through my study of the human body that I have amplified my interest in the particular scientific field of genetics. English Literature, an essay based subject, would aid the linguistic dimension to my University study. Psychology's explorations of genetics takes a theoretical approach, examining issues and debates surrounding the significance of our genetic make-up regarding human traits, fears and characteristics. My interest in this area of biology fueled my fascination with genetics and has also given me insight into the topic from a different perspective. Furthermore, for my EPQ I have investigated the topic of Back Pain and Ankylosing Spondylitis; thus, continually developing research and time management
