Plants In a eukaryotic cell, there are many organelles present. These are a nucleus, golgi apparatus, mitochondria, lysosomes and a cell membrane. The nucleus stores DNA and controls the activity of the cell. The Golgi apparatus is present in a eukaryotic cell because it packages proteins and distributes them. The mitochondria provide energy to the eukaryotic cells. Lysosomes contain enzymes that can help the cell through the process of digestion. All the organelles present in a cell work together to ensure the cell is healthy and can function correctly. Eukaryotic cells also have a cell membrane which is like a barrier that protects the cell from unwanted materials entering. There are many functions of the cell membrane. The main function of the cell membrane is to transport materials through the cell. Furthermore, the cell membrane removes waste gases such as carbon dioxide out of the cell. A phospholipid bilayer is also present in the cell membrane and consists of a hydrophilic head and an ahydrophobic tail. These provide a permeable barrier for the cells. …show more content…

Electrons microscopes have a higher resolution thus are able to identify microorganisms much easily and clearly. An electron microscope can magnify an image up to 2 million times however a light microscope can only magnify an image up to 2 thousand times. Furthermore, a electron microscope allows the structure of a microorganism to be seen however when using a light microscope this may not be possible. Some electron microscopes allow a 3D shape of an object or microorganism to be seen. This is done using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope).
