Why should we care about planet Earth? Why should we care about the environment? This particular question involves everyone to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. There are two sides relating to this environmental issue. On one hand, some believe it is a natural cycle for Earth to change in this sort of way. On the other hand, some believe humans are to blame for the pollution and causing Earth to change. David B. Bohl is convincing the audience that the human race is responsible for the health of our planet. This ethical theory is based on Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism means that an individual must do a good that seeks the most happiness for the greatest number of people. In other words, a good that seeks more pleasure and less pain for the greatest number of people. It is similar to the example of trophy hunting in Africa. Many people would agree hunting animals, especially elephants, for trophies is very cruel. But there are some facts many of us don’t know. The money to hunt these animals is put into donation for private lands. There are certain animals that live on these private lands, and they are able to live and reproduce without the risk of hunters being on their grounds. In summarization of the two creation stories, God created man to be the ruler of all living creatures, to watch over the land, and to work on the land. Men started using the land for farming and hunting purposes many years ago, and now men use the land for industrial purposes. While transitioning, we lost the ‘helping hand’ for our environment.
