The 1960s was the time of tie-dye and sit-ins. Hippies smoke pot, while in the white family kids were portrayed as great youngsters. Maryjane during that time was not as harmful as how people describe it today. Most hippies were adolescents when they initially joined a group. Because of the peer pressure from the group members, they were exposed to marijuana, used mostly at parties and gatherings. The high utilization of drugs was because of a want for self-exploration, religious and spiritual use. The THC level in cannabis was around 1%. However in those days the herb was foreign and it took a long time before it arrived so it was exposed to the different elements causing it to age faster and THC level to decrease. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil, using nutrient solutions or materials instead.hydroponics the plants are grown in an inert growing medium and a perfectly balanced, pH adjusted nutrient solution is delivered to the roots. This permits the plant to uptake its food with painkiller effort as opposed to the soil wherever the roots should find the nutrients and extract them. This method of growing led to a spike in the potency of marijuana. People were able to grow weed closer to home, ultimately giving them access to a fresher product. The ability to harvest cannabis anywhere meant the beginning of higher quality cannabis and the better strains.The spikes in THC levels today are also caused by better growing climate conditions and how they harvest. Revolution of the 1980s came hybridized strains. In 1980 people came with an idea to mix the strains of different marijuana, this is called Hybridization. Hybridization consists of mixing autochthonous varieties to make a replacement strain of the plant. Growers have been hard at work on creating better strains, by crossing high potency strains they have been able to increase the amount of THC in the plant.
