The book Utopia starts with a man named Sir Thomas More who is sent to Antwerp be spokespersons for King Henry VIII. More sent to negotiate land with Prince Charles of Castille. While at Antwerp, Thomas spends time with his friend Peter Giles. Thomas then sees that Peter is talking to a man that looks like the ship’s captain, but Peter then introduces Thomas to Raphael Hythloday. Raphael Hythloday turns out to be a world traveler and a philosopher. All three men then goes back to Peter’s house for dinner and Raphael Hythloday begins to talk about his travels. Raphael Hythloday then talks about his many travels and that he traveled with another explorer named Amerigo Vespucci. He then mentions about traveling and landing on the island of Utopia. Raphael Hythloday then starts to describe the countries of his travels. Peter and Thomas are convinces with the political and social understanding that Hythloday shows during his description of the countries which he traveled that they think he would be a good …show more content…

Hythloday then explains who the founder of Utopia is, that being General Utopus, and how he conquered the land Utopia stands on now. He also describes how Utopia cut the land so they can just make it an island instead. After discussing the land, Hythloday then starts to talk about the society. Hythloday then goes about how their society based on public property, no need for money, no class differences, none of the poor life, little corrupt behavior, religious tolerance, and no need to start a war. Hythloday goes about how people all work and live well in Utopia and that other society live in indulgence. Hythloday also states that there is number of religions that are in Utopia and that, they believe in a single God and that this is how Utopia society is and that Hythloday believes their society is greater to Europe.
