The first edition of Utopia was published in 1516 by Sir Thomas More. Utopia is generally a work of irony, indirectly criticizing Europe's political corruption and religious duplicity. The book ridicules at many aspects of society in England during the time period such as severity of criminal law and the growing luxury of the wealthy class at the expense of the poor class's life of increased hardship. He imagined the communities share a common culture and life style in a complex, self-controlled set of world. In his imagination of Utopia, he defined systems of punishment, social hierarchy, agriculture and education, as well as customs for marriage, dress, and death. The characteristic of utopian city can be figured out through books, science fictions, literatures and movies. All of the characteristic are signs of perfection for giving better humanity life. In architecture field, extremely tall or gigantic skyscrapers that build in an orderly arrangement in the community are one of the common phenomena in utopian city. For example, in Le Corbusier’s Utopia plan to demolish Paris, the city is replaced by the gigantic, uniform, clean skyscrapers which can house million people. In fact, it just basically bulldozes every cultural landmark building in Paris. Furthermore, with the development of science technology, the future utopia may characterized by flying streamlined car, robotic machine and all high-tech product that help to enhance the quality of human life. It sounds like pretty awesome and cool to have flying streamlined car that can drive up the sides of the buildings, have robotic machine helping to carry out the daily activities and amaze by all the high tech products. However, the evil side of humanity is always greedy and not easily to be satisfied. In my opinion, extensive use of robotic machine will bring human to be slothful and will over rely on the high tech products. Human will not appreciate what they have and always take the technology for granted and create something awful that may harm to the society.
