The Patriots were feeling defeated after the first 2 years of war, and the makeshift Pennsylvania winter camp didn 't add to their spirits. Valley Forge was a tough time for the American Army, and many soldiers wanted to quit because of the hardships. If I were a soldier, I would have quit Valley Forge for a multitude of reasons. The living conditions were inadequate, there was a minimal amount of supplies, and illness and death was common in the camp. In essence, the cons of staying at Valley Forge outweighed the Pros.
I am not going to re-enlist in the war because we have poor conditions, many people are dying, and we are getting very little support. The first reason I am not going to re-enlist in the war is because there were very poor conditions. In document C, the diary of Dr. Waldo, he says “Poor food-hard lodging-cold weather-fatigue-nasty cloaths-nasty cookery-vomit half my time…. why are we sent out here to starve and freeze?” They are dying out here of the poor conditions.
Valley Forge- Dec. 19 1777-June 19 1778. Valley Forge was the a winter camp for the continental army. This winter was one of the toughest winters the army faced. They lacked enough food and supplies that they need most. Washington had the toughest job: keeping the army together.
Valley Forge, The Winter Camp of Death and Illness I would quit and leave Valley Forge. Valley Forge is a winter camp that soldiers had to stay at. I have many evidences that I would quit Valley Forge. One evidence that I would quit is from Doc A. It is the research estimate of illness and death at Valley Forge.
Valley Forge is where George Washington came to a winter camp next to Pennsylvania and tried to help because of the harsh weather and poor amount of food, water, and clothing they were provided with. They thought they could make an army and be get strong to be powerful to be ready to fight the enemies. They call this Valley Forge. I would quit Valley Forge because research shows that about 50% of people died because of the harsh weather and the many illnesses that went around. In December to June 1,800 to 2,500 people died due to illness during the encampment.
Staying at Valley Forge It is February 1st, 1778 and nearly 30 percent of Washington’s troops are ill and cannot report for duty (Document A). The Revolutionary War has been hard on the Continiental Army and after this year is over, many soldiers plan on leaving. But unlike them, I chose to stay. Tyranny, like hell is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph (Document D).
The Valley Forge Tragedy Many people have talked about Valley Forge and the tragic things that have happened there. I would not like to stay at Valley Forge. In document A (Estimate Of Illness And Deaths at Valley Forge), it states how many died. Also, how many people got sick. There was about 3,989 soldiers who got sick, and 1800 of them who died.
Quitting Valley Forge I want to quit Valley Forge. Valley Forge is near Philadelphia and was a campsite for Washington’s Continental Army. They fought off the cold, harsh winter, poor food, hard lodging, fatigue, nasty cloaths, and nasty cookery waiting it out. I would want to quit Valley Forge because of all the illnesses and deaths that were there. (document A)
This shows that the camp lacks in both food and clothes which causes the soldiers to freeze and starve from hunger and lack of clothes to keep them warm. There is constantly a lack of food in the camp and when there is food is it very nasty tasting food. How can I know that after we are done at this camp I will get the supplies I need to survive if I didn’t get them now? I will quit because of the lack of supplies for soldiers at Camp Forge.
Valley Forge is a winter camp led by George Washington to train troops, and to win the Revolutionary war. I wouldn’t want to quit Valley Forge because I would want to fight for freedom for my country. In document A by: Noel F. Buch and researchers at William Clements Library of University of Michigan. It shows that you have to work hard to survive, and fight for your country. Less than ¼ of the people died out of 8000 people.
Leaving Valley Forge The author said , “ Death estimate due to illnesses during Encampment December-Junae is about 1,800 to 2,500” (Document A). They are asking people to leave from valley forge because they know a lot of people could get sick and they could die from that one illness. To many people are dying from illness. Many people have that one illness and they want people to leave because you could get that illness from the person you 're with. The author stated,” Many people fight to get over that illness but can 't and just suffer and die”(Document A).
Valley Forge is where George Washington spent the winter with his colonial troops. It was a cold and painful winter, but the soldiers that survived in camp gained much needed training. This training was a valuable asset to the colonists. If I had been a soldier at Valley Forge I would have stayed there. For example in the Estimates of Illness and Deaths at Valley Forge(Doc A) it states that only 1,800 people died in the camp.
The winter of 1777-78 was terribly cold, bitter, and harsh. These conditions made things very difficult for General Washington’s military unit. The unit’s morale and physical strengths were severely tested throughout this challenging and historical time. On December 19, 1777, General George Washington, the Commander of the U.S. Continental Army led the troops to Valley Forge in Pennsylvania for a few different reasons.

Being in the snow isn’t always fun. It is January 1, 1778 and I have been serving my term at Valley Forge. I have been very miserable which has made my experience here dreadful. I’ve finished my time as a soldier but I have the option to re-enlist or come back home.
