Varsity Football Wins 33-15 to End the Season
The Jenkins County Varsity football program ended its season in style Friday night with a 33-15 victory over Montgomery County.
The region crossover game was hosted by Jenkins County High School with kickoff beginning at 7:30pm. The crowd was extremely slim despite the perfect conditions with clear skies and temperatures in the low seventies.
The night began and ended with all eyes on Jenkins County’s senior quarterback, number ten, Travis Bonner. The 185 pound senior completed three of the five touchdowns made by the Jenkins County War Eagles.
“Travis Bonner is an exceptional athlete; we have really been able to see just what he is capable of doing this season,” said assistant Coach Colin Chance

Travis Bonner made two additional touchdowns in the fourth quarter. When the score reached 33-15 Jenkins County allowed their Junior Varsity team members to finish the game. Senior players didn’t mind sharing their final moments on the field with their younger teammates.
“They needed to experience how the game is played at the high school level and they need all the experience they can get for next year,” Joiner said.
There were more points scored in this game than any other game in the 2015 season for Jenkins County.
“We have worked hard all season. The boys really pulled through tonight and gave it their all to finish off the season. You could really tell they wanted this one. You could see the determination in our seniors,” Coach Colin Chance said.
Montgomery County returned to Mt. Vernon defeated Friday night by the Jenkins County War Eagles.
