AJ F. Jex Mrs. Redd Language Arts 11-A 20 January 2023 Heroes of Olympus A Great war has begun with demigods of Camp Half-blood and Camp Jupiter fighting among themselves. A small group of courageous Demigods embark on a mission to stop this war as well as the end of all humanity. As the Demigods pass from known to unknown lands, one by one they realize that fate has no mercy upon them. They think they’ve finally got the hold of things, but then they realize the irony of their lives, again and again, they are thrown into the depths of their lineage making themselves question the true nature of the war. It is when someone says something wile meaning something completely different, often becoming a joke for those witty enough to understand. In the Heros of Olympus, verbal irony is prevelent mostly in the relationships between characters. Over the course of six months, the group of demigods have grown closer inspite of their parents begging them to kill one another. They use verbal Irony in order to provide relief to all the characters problems as well as outsmarting the evil that they face aswell as createing a connection between the reader As stated before, verbal irony plays a major part in the lives of these demigods, none the less, the lives of these demigods and the gods of olympus would not be as engaging without a change of fate, or in this case plot twists. Situational irony is exactly that. These plot twists keep the reader guessing aswell as surprising them for whats happening next. A novel would not be the same without dramatic irony. This form of Irony is designed to let the reader have information that the characters do not. This creates suspense and changes how the reader interprets the story, often engaging them just a bit
