Abstract
Verizon Communications, Inc. is one of the largest communication companies in the world, and is ranked number 13 on the Fortune 500 list (History and Timeline, 2016). Verizon currently employs almost 177,000 employees in 150 countries worldwide (Six Surprising Facts about Verizon, 2016). They are well known for having the fastest and the best wireless connection. Verizon Communications offers numerous employment opportunities such as solutions specialist, project manager, software engineer, accounting analyst, and human resource specialist just to name a few. The 2015 annual reports states that Verizon made $131.6 billion in revenue (2015 Annual Report Verizon, 2016). A further breakdown of the 2015 annual report shows that operating cash flows from continuing operations were $38.9 billion, reported diluted earnings per share were $4.37, adjusted diluted earnings per share were $3.99, and dividends declared per share were $2.23 (2015 Annual Report Verizon, 2016). The corporate highlights that are stated in annual report conclude that $21.2 billion were earned in free cash, there was a 3.6% growth in operating revenues, and there was a 2.7% annual dividend increase (2015 Annual Report Verizon, 2016). Compared to the annual report in 2014, there was an increase in the company’s financial highlights in all areas. Verizon did not suffer a loss in any area, which furthermore makes me want to be a part of their team in the near future. Verizon Communications, Inc. has numerous acquisitions, which leads to limitless career opportunities all over the world. They are always looking for educated individuals to fulfil the company’s goals. I would love to work in the Human Resource field for Verizon, but I am open to working my way up the career ladder to Human Resources if needed. Also, based on their 2015 end of year report, Verizon Communications, Inc. generates billions in profit with no loss. With that being said, Verizon will be around for numerous years to come, which means that working for Verizon will provide me with great job
