Ana Lucia Urizar, author of the article titled We’re Being Punished by Crippling Student Debt presents the argument of Student debt and the importance of remedying this topic otherwise face future detrimental effects. Urizar provided statistics suck as the average amount of loans in dollars the class of 2015 had taken out. Ultimately, Urizar’s main argument is that something needs to be done about the exorbitant cost of attending college because it is impeding graduates’ careers, standard of living and ability to fully engage the economy. This argument does well providing strong statistics found through credible sources such as The Wall Street Journal, however, the article failed to provide a counter-argument or different viewpoint regarding
Student debt is the nightmare that many people live with on a daily basis. It is nearly ironic how people use education as a potential ticket that hopefully will bring financial stability, along with many other things, in the future; yet, people are graduating with high amounts of student debt under their name that take years to repay. Now that the nation’s student loan debt have surpassed 1.4 trillion dollars, policy-makers are extremely concerned. From 2008 to 2012, there was a .2 million increase of students graduating with debt, meaning that ever since, there are more than 1.3 million people with student debt (Student Loan Hero). I think that student loan debt is a problem in the United States.
Student loans is the second highest source of debt of $2.1 trillion dollars in the U.S. economy right now. This student loan debt is not only affecting the entire economy as a whole. In America, people believe that earning at Bachelor’s degree is the key to success in order to be financially secure be set in life. However at the same time, the cost of tuition has skyrocketed, and the borrowing of loans rise with it. The rising of student loan and debt will reduce consumption, lower investing, lower the rate of home ownership, and overall make it difficult to sustain financial stability.
Loans can quickly turn into a substantial amount of debt by the time a student completes their standard 4 year degree. As a result, this debt can carry on throughout their adult life and make starting that life more difficult. “A record share of students are leaving college with a
Honeybees are an example of a swarm because of the way a society of bees is able to reproduce and create a new colony. Honeybee colonies work together in order to survive as well as expanding in the idea of population as well as location. The swarming process is one that has been successful for many years for honeybees because of the way it enables the colonies to reproduce in an efficient and productive way. It also gives the bees the ability to move around and create new hives which then enables the honeybees to create new colonies which therefore expands their population. Swarming is an important part of honeybee survival because without it, the honeybees would be unable to reproduce and would therefore most likely go extinct if incapable
“Student debt has exceeded credit card debt and impacts about 43 million Americans, sparking a variety of efforts to aid students struggling to afford college (Max Lewontin).” That debt weighs
In 2010, a study from “The Hamilton Project” showed that one in five American households possessed an outstanding student debt. It also tells that the amount of students loans grew by 77% between the years of 2002 and 2012. The growing concern of paying for a secondary education in the United States has become more prominent, yet no solution or serious attention has been given to this cause from the government and university leadership. In order to better our country, more emphasis needs be placed on reducing the costs of paying for a university. This course of action can only come from a change in values from these two groups to to focus once again on the principles used during the founding to create a “good society”.
Student loan debt has been a big issues for a while now which is caused by the high price college tuition that has more than doubled in the past fifty years in the United States. According to figure 1, in the past five years alone the tuition price has increased an average of 11 percent (see appendix). With the serious rise in tuition many students have taken out loans which means that more and more graduates from college are not only leaving with a diploma but also with debt. "7 in 10 college seniors graduated in 2012 with student debt, which on average was $29,400" (Lundberg 1). 70 percent of all the graduates are already in debt stepping out of college and moving into the real world trying to start a career in society for the first time which means that they will be starting in a hole and will have to work much harder to dig themselves out.
Since tuition has risen 3 times higher the rate of inflation in the past 10 years, this increase a student’s chances of not being able to afford higher education and also gives them a better chance of accumulating debt post-graduation. Some people think that the college education they acquired did not fit the amount they paid for it, even if they pulled out loans or were an ideal candidate for a scholarship. This is a scary fact because higher education can determine if you thrive
Drowning in Debt: What are the Consequences of Student Loan Debt in the U.S.? Student loan debt has a big impact on students decisions, student debt influences a lot on how they spend their money. American Student Assistance (ASA) recently made a survey, with this survey they found out that the Students with loan debt are postponing important decisions in their lives. Many of the students that participated in the survey are waiting to buy a home, get married, have children, save for retirement, and some of them haven’t been able to enter the career field that they wanted all because of their debt.
The tuition and cost of college is detrimental to thousands of families across the country and brings student debt to future graduates. Some students have seen their debt climb over $30,000. Friedman writes, “The average student in the Class of 2016 has $37,172 in student loan debt…” (Friedman). With the debts being over the average income for single people households, college has transformed from a benefit to a burden. Young adults not only have to worry about their education but also paying for the next semester or years of college ahead of them.
