Technology is in a constant state of changing, and there is no exception for the Veterinary medicine. Starting in the late 1980s and early 1990s, an increasing number of firms began to offer software targeted for use in veterinary offices.1 (McHaney, 2012) It’s imperative for all Veterinary Practices to stay up to date with technology, not only for effectiveness, but for the fast-paced world we live in. AviMark, DVMAX, and Impromed are all popular office management software companies that not only stay in stride with the Veterinary world, but may even run circles around it. However, they need to be easy to use, effective, safe, and cost-efficient for word to travel and sales to soar.

They are a division of IDEXX Laboratories, Inc., and an ISO 9,000 certified development office. Their veterinary office management software offers a paperless practice, which is highly sought after in today’s time. They are capable with not only Windows, but Mac users as well. Some of the features of DVMAX are multi practice access, blood analyzers, anywhere access with their smart phone app that coincides with DVMAX as well as 2 way-lab integration, which will import any lab data that is needed. DVMAX launches the Anywhere App that allows veterinarians to browse appointments, plan a daily schedule and view patient medical histories from an iPhone or iPad. Veterinarians can browse appointments for the day, week or over a selected date range, and the app lists the patient, client, date, time and appointment.3 (DVM NewsMagazine, 2011) They also offer “front desk” utilities like Credit card payments, email and fax, word processing, boarding and reminders. DVMAX uses Safe Data, which ensures against Identity theft, data loss from system crashes, and backup in case an emergency happens. In 2011, Impromed joined forces with the Henry Schein Company, which undoubtedly strengthens both companies for future development. Impromed has the most extensive feature list on what they offer clients, including but not limited to Accounts Receivable, Boarding, Client/Patient Database, Clinic Census, IDEXX IPACS, Medical Records, Patient Processing, General Ledger Link, Label creator, and Time Management. ClearVet Digital Radiography Systems Inc. and ImproMed Inc. have partnered to integrate ClearVet Digital Radiography Systems with ImproMed's Infinity Practice Management Software.2 (DVM NewsMagazine, 2013) The software does carry Lab Importing as well, making it easy to get results quickly, with no human error. Impromed also sells hardware specifically for Veterinary Businesses. Their technical support looks extremely organized, including after hours, holiday support hours, application support, case by case support, and even hardware support.
