In Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein, Victor and his creature share many characteristics although they are opposing forces because of their differences.This story has many things going on throughout the novel. The story begins with explorer Robert Walton and his ship. After weeks at sea, the crew of ship finds Victor Frankenstein, floating on an ice floe near to his death. Walton writes a series of letters to his sister in England, where he retells Victors story. Victor grew up in Geneva, Switzerland with his mother Caroline, father Alphonse, younger brother William, and his adopted sister Elizabeth. Victor learned new subjects quickly. He especially loved science and vowed to study it someday. Caroline and Elizabeth become ill with scarlet fever just as Victor is preparing to leave to go to the University of Ingolstadt. Sadly his mother Caroline passed away, but Elizabeth was nursed back to health. At the university, Victor truly becomes dedicated to his studies. Impressing his fellow students and even his teachers. He visits Mount Montanvert when he sees the monster coming. The monster had a proposition for his maker, he wants a mate of his own. Victor refuses and the monster asks that his story is heard by him. In a small hut on the mountain is where they retreated so the monster could tell his story. The monster taught himself to read and understand language for the soul propose of being with his adopted family, the De Laceys. The monster found a jacket with a notebook and letters in it. As it turns out they had been lost by Victor and they entailed the details of his creation. He had endured rejection by mankind, but he didn't retaliate on mankind in general. The monster determined he wanted to take revenge on his creator by killing his family; he wanted Victor to feel lonely as he did
