Is a video game a drug? In many aspects, video games can be considered a drug because they can be addictive. These drug like items have become acceptable in society. No one should have drugs, especially children because their brains are still developing so it is more harmful to them. So why do parents give their children these harmful drug like items? For example, children who played video games in moderation began to develop quicker reactions, coordination, and sharper language skills than those who did not (Margilt). As a result of video games not being overplayed, few benefits were found. However, these benefits were not found in everyone because many children cannot control how much time they spend on a device due to their still developing frontal lobe. The frontal lobe controls the body's alarm system for how much time is enough on one activity (Dunckley). People who played video games have worse communication skills than those who do not play (Bavelier).
