In 1965, the Vietnam War began due the belief that communism was too threatening to expand around the world. This war was long and contained a lot of disagreement between the north and south Vietnamese communist government along with the United States. Every president from Franklin D. Roosevelt through Richard Nixon were involved in this controversial war and the Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, and Conservatives were also involved. After World War II ended in 1945, the United States became involved with Vietnam along with the others.
