The villain is an archetypal character showcased in plenty of storylines, whether it’s a book, movie, or a Television show. The villain is a person who represents sin, and tries to stop the protagonist or hero from succeeding.
In the book The Abundance of Katherine’s, by John Green, The Other Colin portrays the villain. Colin an ex child prodigy, also the hero of the story, goes on an adventure with his best friend Hassan after being broken up with by a girl named Katherine. This Katherine that left him heartbroken was his nineteenth girlfriend named Katherine. Colin and Hassan end up in small town. A woman and her daughter, Lindsay, recognized Colin from a child prodigy game show and let the boys’ stay in their home, as long as they help out by doing work. Maleficent has a hatred for Princess Aurora because of a bad past with her father, the king. For revenge Maleficent puts a curse upon the kings daughter. In the movie, Maleficent barges into the Princess Aurora’s christening and says: “Before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel, and fall into a sleep like death! A sleep from which she will never awaken” (Disney’s Maleficent). Villains have a reasoning to be against a certain character, most of the time it’s the hero of the story. Maleficent reasoning is for revenge against the princess’s father. Maleficent knew that the death of the kings daughter would make him feel pain, so she wants induce that onto him by threatening his daughters future life; however, Aurora is given a chance by having a kiss to awaken her from her sleep.
