Vince Lombardi Road to Victory Did you know that Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers won the very first Super Bowl on January 15th, 1967? Yet after ten seasons, a career record of 105-35-6, 5 NFL titles and two super bowls, Vincent Thomas Lombardi was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1971. At first when Lombardi was in high school at Francis Preparatory Seminary he wanted to become a priest and later on changed high schools to play football. Though Mr. Lombardi got most of his fame from the Packers and some from the NY Giants, he also coached the Redskins right before his career ended. After his death many people knew and think of him as one of the best and most successful coaches ever. Vince was definitely a big risk taker and wanted to win all the time. One of the most famous and most known games in NFL history is the Ice Bowl. It was a championship game between Vince Lombardi and the Packers and Tom Landry and the Dallas Cowboys. Whoever won this game would go to the Super bowl to verse the Raiders. This game was very hard to play in because of all the snow and ice. It was -13 degrees and a very close rivalry game yet both teams were very close at halftime with a score of 14-10, Green Bay up by four. Later on in the 4th quarter with sixteen seconds left in the game, no time outs and the Packers were on the one yard line and down by a field goal.
