“What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?” Vincent Van Gogh, one of the prolific Dutch artist, is considered as the iconic tortured artist. Despite the failure, his artworks are now the most popular works in the art field. Some people who only know his famous works knows him as an artist who was always gifted and famous. However, he is an artist who shot himself and died after suffering for two days. Also, only one piece out of 1200 works was sold during his lifetime. Vincent Van Gogh has lived the most miserable life, whereas his talents were found after he has passed away (박찬운 17). In 1882, Vincent meets a prostitute named Sien and tries to take care of her. This year is when Vincent creates his artwork “Sorrow” by looking at naked Sien. He wondered “How can a woman be abandoned by herself?” She was pregnant and no one else was there to be with her (이세진 37).Their love ends after 20 months due to their lack of money since all Vincent had was what he always got from his brother Theo. In 1886 March, Vincent went to Paris to stay with his brother Theo. When Paul Gauguin his artist friend agreed to live with him, Vincent moved to Arles and started to make artworks in the yellow house. However, they easily got into a fight because their perception of art was very different. When Gauguin told Vincent that he is going to leave, Vincent cuts his own right ear. They went apart and Vincent goes to the mental hospital to stable his mental. Many people thought Vincent was insane, but Theo’s support was continued. Vincent started to get tired of his own mental disease and decides to go to doctor Paul Gachet. His famous artwork “Portrait of Dr.Gachet” is drawn during these years (박우찬
