Vincent Van Gogh Jacopo Filipetti Story Vincent Van Gogh was born 30 March 1853 in Zundert, Netherlands. He is one of the most iconic Post Impressionist painter, he roughly painted more than 2000 pieces of work, (860 painted with oil). He sadly passed away 29 June 1890 due to the effect of his mental illness, he committed suicide in his apartment in Auvers-sur-Oise France at the age of 34, he suffered a series of psychotic attacks, which made him even more paranoid that these attacks may influence his creativity and mental health. Van Gogh was born in a middle-class family. He was a home student, his Mother and governess acted as teachers for the young Vincent. Vincent started focusing more on painting and drawing, painting Weavers and Cottages. During his stay in Nuenen, he roughly painted more the 200 oil paintings. His work was judged harshly, even his brother told him that his painting was too dark and tenebrous, they did not follow the Impressionist style that was leading at the time. In 1885 Vincente opened and exhibited his work for the first time. He was later accused of impregnating his “younger peasant sister” (Van Gogh’s model) so as a religious village, Vincent wasn’t the most supported artist. Without telling his parents, in November decided to move to Antwerp and started to live in a small apartment, living a “rat” life, living on Bread, coffee and Tobacco, he decided to invest all his money in equipment and models.
